Irish date for Celtic youngsters

Celtic’s under-21 side will take in a trip to Northern Ireland next month to take on Irish League outfit Newry City in a pre-season friendly.

Newry had been hoping to persuade Gordon Strachan and the Celtic first XI to make the trip to County Down, but the Bhoys first XI are already committed to alternative arrangements.

The game, which is slated to take place at the Showgrounds on Friday July 15th, will see Kenny McDowall’s Celtic youngsters prepare for the beginning of the new under-21 and reserve team seasons in Scotland.

Despite the fact that few households names will make the trip to Newry, the club is still hopeful that the Bhoys stars of tomorrow can ensure a healthy attendance for the game.
