Faz was outstanding, starting to come good and it shows in the result tonight. He was at the heart of everything good we did.
McTiernan was great once again, what a brilliant goal.
Great start to the weekend!
Can't wait to get over for the game next Saturday.
3 points against Israel tomorrow night would go down well and all.
Great game. Faz, McTiernan(superb goal), O'Donnell and Low all played very well. But one thing I noticed was the attendance tonight was very low. Dont know why but I'm gonna blame it on it been a Friday night and people just could'nt go for some reason.
Paul McTiernan scored a wonder-goal as Sligo Rovers moved level with Dublin City at the top of the First Division table on Friday night.
McTiernan, Sligo’s top scorer in two of the past three seasons, controlled, turned and swivelled a volley past Alan Gough from the corner of the area midway through the first half.
The home side doubled their lead early in the second half when Galway defender Ronan Frawley headed the ball past his own keeper.
The visitors gave themselves a lifeline within 90 seconds when David O’Dowd capitalized from a Philip Gallagher mistake.
However, Rovers skipper Michael McNamara headed his fourth goal of the season and Sean Flannery added another as the Bit o’Red coasted to their derby win of the week – they defeated Finn Harps in the League Cup on Monday night.

Great performance all round and a brilliant game all round, it had everything. You cant single one outstanding player but ill give it a lash, Mc Tiernan a class apart once again, Faz was at the heart of it all he was a genius,Flannery had his best game of the season so far and superb linking up with Mc Tiernan, our backs were as solid as ever but once again Gallagher let the side down. Its gone beyond a joke now, Phillip must go, hes a liability.
McTiernan's goal has got to be goal of the season I think the Galway fans even applauded it. Its a pity Flannery's scissors kick didn't go in. Their was 3 or 4 players who could have got man of the match
sorry yeah, there was one awful performer last night, gallagher, what a liability he is,he has no concentration at all, when the ball leaves his foot,it usually ends up behind the blue stand
goal of the season by McT but if flannerys had gone in it would run it close!!
Could only make it in for the 2nd half so missed McT's wondergoal. Flannery's volley would have been unbelievable if it had gone in.
Foley was excellent in the middle, has got great skill and vision. Tends to play a bit too much football and might get caught out more against better teams, but fair play to him. O'Grady was very solid too.
Personally I didnt think gallagher was that bad. although admittedly his positioning was a concern. I thought Carr played very badly. Was it not he who miscontrolled the ball in the area. I didnt get a good look at it so someone who did can correct me please. We are almost in july at which time chris cotterill will be playing right back. It's not gallaghers fault he get's picked for games so maybe a bit of encouragement might improve his confidence. I'm not defending his performances so nobody needs to go off on one. :D
i was over the jinks avenue side for the match so was near philip for the first half and he done ok, dont think steven o donnell trusts him though cos he was doing a lot of tracking back and philip was a bit tucked in

Although it pains me to say it, Carr had a decent game. There weren't many headers he didn't win and although his pace is still lacking, he read the game well enough to get some crucial blocks in. One in particular I remember in the first half on the edge of the area.
I stand corrected :DQuote:
