It'a a game we should have collected all 3 points from but as is the way our season is going at times we failed to capailtise on all the chances we had in this game.Although Mooney has been in in fine form in the past few games I can't help but blame him for their equaliser on Fri. night.I was right behind the goals in the shed end, and Mooney never came for a ball that was his.It was floated into the back post and it was in the air for a while (enough for Mooney to collect it), instead he hesitated and its 1-1.Finni had a right go at him as he should have because, he went for it and changed his mind at the last second, this hesitation probably confused Finni resulting in the goal.Don't get me wrong I know he pulled off a marvellous save later on, but hey thats what he's there for.Overall heres how I saw it.
Mooney 7/10. Had a good game, but even he will hold his hands up for the equaliser.
O'Mahony 7/10. One of his better games linked up well with Keirns and even offered him options when he overlapped him.
McGauley 6/10. Still don't think his dismissal was warranted. His 1st yellow should never have been given but Jimmy 5 bellys O'Neill obviously had other ideas.
Finnucane 6/10. Had an ok game but as captain he doesn't talk enough for me.Cobh only threatened in flits and starts so he didn't have a lot to do.
Woulfe7/10. Forgive him for the penalty miss, think the occasion got the better of him and was desperatly unlucky to boot, was up for this game and some of his challenges showed it.
Barrett 7/10.IMO didn't have one of his better games. This was a game which our midfield needed to be strong and at times Tommy was asleep, maybe I'm being too critical of him, but he's head n shoulders better than anything Queenstown have in their midfield, needs to help out attack more.
McCarthy 7/10. Again as above, when we have the ball we need to support Robbie more, ok I know we had a guy sent off early and it was probably harder to do this but in general.........................
Keirns 7/10. Had one of his better games IMO skinned his marker on numerous occasions, put some decent ball in the box, but Robbie was looking for Derek, or Derek was looking for Robbie when it happened.
Donnellen 8/10. Fine goal and worked for the cause, ran out of steam in the end.
O'Brien 7/10. Is improving game by game, not one of his biggest fans but he is trying and thats all we as supporters can ask of him, sacrificed for a defender due to McGauleys red card.
Kelliher 8/10. Runs his legs off for the cause and worked hard to earn the spot kick (pity about the result). As a Liverpool fan also I don't mind saying this but Robbie is a pure Rooney, strong quick and not afraid to get stuck in, a workhorse up front.
Tobin for O'Brien...... Kicked it long safety first.
Conlon for McCarthy... not on long enough to rate.
Young for Donnellen.... not on long enough to rate.
As a Limerick Fc supporter who went to all of last seasons home matches, I am happy with our progress this season, ok some games we left after us but football is like that times, I'm just happy we're in the mix as it were.Crowd was fantastic Friday, keep the singing going guys.............C'mon you Blues... :) :)
