yea this happens most ps2 its not a design fault as some will tell you its from over playing and leaving them on all day , pro evo is the main cause of this problem .
its one of two problems just a dirty lens or a burnt out laser
try a lens cleaning disk
second option : open it up there are a lot of screws but its pretty easy to do . open the case then the cd tray until you see the laser give it a wipe with a tissue ( be carefull its delicate ) .
if this doesnt work you need a new laser , they can be ordered on line or bring it to a pc repair shop ( or some where that chips them smyths toys also does it for about 85 euro but it may not last too much longer even after being fixed so a new one for 150 might be your best bet )
Out of interest, you haven't been playing GTA:San Andreas much on it have ya, cos i've heard about this alot recently, most linked back to GTA SA.
You could wait till PS3 ;)
It was Pro Evo that did it for me (although it first stalled on espn nfl 2k5)
Didn't need to fix it as a mate in work couldn't sell his so he offloaded it to me for nothing...
My PS2 stoped workin when i was playin GTA:SA was very ****ed off when it happened but good thing one of my mates had 2 PS2s & he gave me one! Tryed a CD cleaner but it did not work then I opened it up & cleaned it but it still didnt work!Quote:

Glad you both got another PS2 though-would you have survived without it? ;)
