Going through manchester airport yesterday, just before the metal detector i took everything metal out of my jeans and put it into my jacket, took off my belt, put it all through the x-ray machine and walked through the metal detector which didnt go off. i was walking over to get my bag when i was asked to step aside to be patted down. it was weird i thought. whats all that about?

They advise that you dont travel with wraped presents now. I was always a bit surprised at how easy it was to build up trust with the security folk. As a result, im never shocked by all the newspaper undercover stories about reporters posing as workers etc. A different worldQuote:

Everybody was made take off their shoes when I was heading through security in Dublin airport on Sunday morning. Thing there's a bit of over-reaction to that EU spot test thing that happened their the other week. Coming back through Heathrow was nothing compared to it.
