Am I alone in thinking that Fenlon is over rated? I dont think that he's bad, but how hard is it to win the league if you can go out and buy the best players season after season? Put me in charge of Chelsea and I'll give Roman the Premiership, no problems.
You do realise we didnt spend a penny or even a cent on signing most of the team we have dont you??
You also have to realise some of the players on the Shels team turned down better contracts at other clubs to sign for us.
There is also players who Shels told to F off like the likes of Fenn who asked for too much money.....
Whatever about nutsys style of play and if you like it or not he has not gone out and bought the league!!! He's a great manager so far and apart from a few games where he may have got the tactics wrong he has done all the right things.
Go take a look at the league table before Wednesday at 8:45 because its the only time that Cork will come before Shels on it.
I agree to an extent, impressive though fenlon has been there's a lot to be said for success on more limited resources. He has done well but he took over a good squad of full timers and has had huge backing to build up his squad even further. Very few pay transfer fees in the El backing means wages generally.'Best' is a very subjective thing. I could say Alan Mathews is the 'best' manager and I reckon I'd have a case, i'm sure fans of other clubs could nominate others.
Like who?Quote:

Yes, UCD are still waiting on their 20,000 euro.Quote:

Its the work behind the scenes Fenlon does that is also very impressive. He puts his heart and soul into it and has the determination and rive that clearly rubs off on players. The squad we have now is good, but still, I don't see us walking away with every match we play. No one in the league has done that for many many years. I still think we are very well posed to do well and regardless of people's opinions of Fenlon, I personally am delighted to have him on board. You would you rather manage you in the Eircom League and when I think of it, I'm very happy with who we have!
No, the best manager in the league is now out of a job! :(Quote:

in fairness people, fenlon proved his calibur in the cl run last year. he might have had the best team in the league but the teams achievements were still to be admired. even as a fan of another el club you couldent help but cheer them on in the final few mins against split and in lansdowne against depor. stil you get the impression that this season will be a defining one for him- hows he gonna better last year?
It's only 18 months since Shels fans were giving Fenlon serious $hit after we drew 0-0 in Tolka. Things change very quickly and a poor season could have him in trouble.
dont agree with that if anything they have a weaker squad and you still have the uefa and setanta cup. :mad:Quote:

   city have only added players (and in positions they needed). The loss of Stephen O'Flynn is not quite that important.Quote:

Yeah, the third round quaifyer one, you know, further than any Irish team has even gotten in the current CL format and he guided us there, that was the one alright.Quote:
