Shamrock-complete dive!
Gunthers-large pub in a basement but never the less quite comfortable. Big ****-off screen for the football. In Schwabing.
My own personal recommendation however would be Killians which is slap bang in the centre of Munich. Right beside the Frauenkirche the cathedral in the city-hence almost impossible to miss. Killians, like Gunthers, is in a basement (actually come to think of it, so is Shamrock...) but not dingy, next door is an Austalian pub, originally titled Ned Kelly's! watched all the rugby world cup in there, as well as the GAA matches, and that unfortunate game in Basel of which we shall never speak (apologies for dredging up the memories). Because it's in the centre the cost of the drink is more pricey but stick to the German beer, cheaper & tastes lot better than imported liquid. There will definitely be a sizable Irish crowd there. There's an Irish soccer club and a GAA club in Munich as well. Hope this helps.
