storage of electronic voting machines
we had a very long and interesting thread here last year about the pro's & cons of the idea of electronic voting(the thread actually spawned the famous "horses ass" avatar for a contributor here :D ).
on a separate but connected issue :this week a report came to light that a dublin returning officer was charged with the job of finding storage space for these great "white elephants" in the greater dublin area and alledgedly reported back saying that he could'nt find anywhere to put the machines.
so himself & his partner accquired some industrial units themselves and are now storing the machines themselves and are charging the government/you/me for the task.
while strictly speaking he has probably done nothing illegal i think that this arrangement looks a bit cosy and i think the job should have been put out to
tender (if it was i did'nt see it).
maybe i'm being too suspicious but it just does'nt feel right to me. :(
ps:btw i am not a member of any political party and am not really impressed by any of the parties out there.
