I don't know if this has been posted here before, apologies if it has, but does anyone know why the Fai constantly section off parts of the north and south terrace for the pre-match build up, only to open them up at kick off.
Surely this creates a safety hazard, as soon as they open up the empty sections people run for the free barriers. Last night I saw people slipping on the steps, kids being knocked as bumped as people ran by. I can see no logical reason for it :confused:
Can anyone enlighten me?!

Son't know about the nort and south terraces but last night in the east they sectioned off an area and then let young kids and their parents in there as they came in...
I thought it was a good idea, the parents stood at the back and all the kids were up the front so they could see

It is a good idea to section off parts of terrace but the way i've seen FAI do it previously is not good. IMO in Lansdowne they block off the wrong parts of the terrace.
Th.e way it should be done is to encourage everyone to say push over the righthand side of terrace so as more poeople come in they can be shuffled across. Seen it down in England years ago (pre all-seaters) where police were in front of terrace directing people across the terrace to fill gaps 7 worked very well.

Now that I can understand.... and it seems to make sense....
However, what happens in the North and South terraces and has done for years now, is that they cordon off a section to one side (or in the case of last night, both sides) and let NOBODY in until just before kick off when the plastic cordon is taken away and it becomes a free-for-all :confused:

done to stop latecomers pushing in from the side.
Problem however is that the best spots get reserved for latecomers so it is worth waiting for that extra pint and still get a good view. Encourages more people to go late.....
