S has to be Hawaii, so it's probably not. A bit of Florida might sneak down below.
W has to be Alaska - the international date line runs only a few miles from the westernmost Aleutian Islands.
E - Maine?
N - Alaska obviously.
BTW - no googling - can I use a map? :p
S: hawaii correct
N: alaska correct
w: alaska correct
one more to go
I going with Alaska for both N and WQuote:

These ARE correct, cos I got them right in a table quiz a few weeks ago... :p
Is Rhode Island not the furthest East?
Is the most eastern state the UK now that Tony reports into Dubya.
The answer i have is
South: Hawaii
North: Alaska
West: Alaska
and
East: Alaska
The reason being that the date line goes through one of the Aleutian Islands.
Heard it on the radio friday night about the problem of setting quizs in the age of google when most information can be discovered in a few clicks. The person who gave the above questions was a professional quiz master.
Don't buy that ;) , the International date line doesn't cross any land mass because they didn't want to have two different days in any populated (or potentially populated) area. It's all over the ocean AFAIK :)Quote:

Sorry, i did yes, but 180 meridian divides the world in two. On one side youre in the western hemisphere on the other side youre in the eastern hemisphere.Quote:

I bet you in the the cold war the russians were really angry that the Tsar had sold Alaska to the Americans. :)
Cheers, I'm up to speed nowQuote:
