One of the more learned City fans and experienced posters might know this one.
AS far as I am aware all the former and current league of Ireland grounds in Cork City were located on the Southside of the River Lee.
Given that the Norries have produced many LOI players including Roy of the Ramblers I have a question.
Has there ever been a League of Ireland club located on the North side of the city?

The southsiders provide the pitch and in exchange for their generosity,we provide the talent,its always been that way!
They barely have running water on the northside so any grounds had to be on the south side!
i suppose you could argue the mardyke is neutral as it lies between the north aand south channels doesnt it? neither north or south!
Yep mardyke is middle ground. I suppose all other eircom league clubs are north of the lee ;)
It makes you wonder, if there were North-South side soccer teams. What team would have the most support? Who would have the most money? Where would us norries have our stadium?

The reason for my query was simple, as has been pointed out by other postees, a very large % of Cork born LOI/el players have come from the North side of the City. And indeed a lot of Non-League Cork clubs who have either won F.A.I. Junior and Intermediate Cups or who have done well enough in those competitions have qualified for the Senior Cup, have come from that part of the city too.

AAAARGH. As a proud norrie, I could argue with that! The North side is north of the north channel of the river!! Remember, when the Barrs beat the Glen, you weren't allowed throw the ux of your apple to the swans until you were on north gate bridge, cos southside swans might get them if you threw it off the south gate. :pQuote:

ive always thought Ellis's quarry in ballyvoilane/blackpool would have been perfect. its got a rail connection, a main ring road, bus's, and plenty of room for construction. unfortunately glen rovers decided that they needed ANOTHER government funded pitch (their forth, despite the fact that the top one goes practically unused, and the middle one is "special occassions only", ie u14 B city camoigie final), and now theres a pitch there lying unused, with room on each side for, i dunno, maybe a 30,000 seater stadium. its also in an area that i know city are very popular. and best of all, i can see it from my bedroom window :cool:Quote:
