Limerick FC player/manager Mike Kerley insists he is not going to step down as boss of the Shannonside club at the end of the current season.
Kerley has been in the job for a season and a half after taking over from Noel O’Connor in 2003.
He guided the club to the promotion play-offs 12 months ago but has been unable to match that this time around as the club felt the pinch of financial shortfall.
Speculation has been growing that Kerley, regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in eircom League management, could be tempted away from the club during the close-season.
But, after guiding Limerick to a valiant scoreless draw with promotion-hunting Bray Wanderers on Friday night, he insists he plans to stay put. “I have absolutely no intention of stepping down and I intend to be with the club at the start of next season,” he told the Irish Sun.
