FAI 60 strong council

The Football Association of Ireland's 60-strong council will meet at Citywest Hotel this afternoon to consider how to deal with the organisation's need to fill their vacant chief executive position and the Government's insistence they do so by open competition at the earliest possible opportunity.

Supporters of the FAI treasurer, John Delaney, are keen he be offered the post on an interim basis for at least 12 months, but this would amount to open defiance of the Minister for Sport, John O'Donoghue, who has suggested the organisation will fall out of favour with his Department if they do not advertise the post before Christmas.


DOES DROGHEDA UNITED HAVE ANYONE ( OR MORE ) ON THIS COUNCIL ??

Cant believe they wont sort this sh*t out giving delaney the job in the intermin will only delay the whole thing for another 12 months. Its clear that they will lose the money from the sports council for not implementing Genisus and in fairness you cant blame them. The FAI are throwing away the grant that could have been used for the good off Irish Soccer.

I dont know what the sports council is going to do to try and get the FAI to sort it out. Its like dealing with kids who couldnt give a toss. :mad:

I get the feeling Irish soccer would be better off if the FAI just F**ked off :mad:

Anybody know where you can get a list of the 60 members of council. Have these guys got email addresses. Do they know how fans, players and the entire grass roots feel about what is happening in the FAI

thats the root of the problem, it would seem that the grassroots don't want the FAI to change because (correct me if I'm wrong) that damned report diluted their influence and voting power. Grassroots are the amateur and schoolboy levels of the organisation. The eL is the group which stands to lose the most for every season of monkey business. The state of the FAI is generally a seen as reflection of the professionalism of the eL. This league is going nowhere whilst the FAI (as it stands) is in charge of football in ireland.
