Got to see an away win after the disappointing result away to Kilkenny. Well done to the new management team for having the confidence and courage to use the young talent that is available. It is great to see players like Conor Meade, Mark Barmbury, Michael O'Shea getting their chance. There are plenty more young players waiting in the wings. The committee has got it right by appointing a management team who will give youth their chance.
from what i heard that appointment wasn't unanimous either, the games that were lost after Henderson tok over were by a single goal , i think he deserves a chance 'cos i thoght that it was a temporary job. i think there are some in the board who don't give a toss about the team.
It is vital that a club with our limited resources / funding for new players give 110% to development of new players coming up thru the ranks. Man City give Cerry Orchard £8000 per month / £96000 per year for first choice on any up and coming talent in Ireland (12-18 yrs) look at Willo Flood!.
They are not league of Ireland level, but, would teach most league of Ireland Clubs on how to bring young talent from an early age thru the ranks properly.
If our management / coaching staff at senior level want to involve themselves with the underage teams now then we will see the benefit in years to come....both on and off the park, financially, as well as on the playing side......We need to put a long term plan / structure in place and not just go from season to season.
