Am I the only person who is concerned about the safety of people standing left and right of the area behind the goal at the shed end in the warm up before games?
Last Monday night a stray ball missed hitting a young girl in the face by less than a foot. The speed it was travelling, it would possibly have broken her neck.
I am not suggesting that stewards move people away from there, but a safety net slung up in that area might save somebody some day.
Just a thought.

Turners' cross is about as safe as a box of old matches in fairness.
Id be far more worried about the wall in the Derrynane. The amount of times a player has absolutely pasted the ball for a clearance is unreal. If it hot someone who was sitting at the back row in the face, it would cause his head to shoot back at fierce speed and hit against the wall. It could happen, and it could be a fractured skull.
Dunno is that melodramtic, buy i cringe everytime I see a stiff clearnce going in there.

Surely getting hit by a stray ball is the same in every ground? Sure El Haj Diouf ended up in the middle of a few celtic fans in Parkhead 2 years ago after a tackle!

(I went to a basebal match once. They have netting around the batting area but the batter sliced the ball and it went over to the far side of the dimond and into the crowd. As the game was so boring most of the punters had taken to watching the cheerleaders and the ball flew straight into a guys face, right between the mouth and nose. The first aiders went over to him and then made him walk over to thier station, with everyone in the stands all gawking at him with a mixture of sympathy and sniggers)
I happen to remember Diouf spitting at those same Celtic fans

I remember standing down the front of the shed a few years back, the players were warming up, taking shots into the goal at that end and gareth cronin hit a shot full belt, got me straight in the face. I had a round red mark on my face for 2 days after it :D

How about we erect a huge perspex barrier around the entire pitch to protect the fans or else make everyone in the first 5 rows wear crash helmets? Or ask the ref to not pump up the ball as hard to eliminate any nasty injuries picked up when some yobbo defender has the cheek to clear the ball into the crowd?
