Rolling onto Saturday - Cobh at home
It's only Monday but I'm sure everyone is eager to forget about Saturdays events so looking forward to Cobh and I have to say I'm not confident. Was talking to an Athlone fan who was at their game in Cobh on Saturday and he told me every time Cobh went forward they looked like scoring as did the brilliant Conor Meade. Only thing we can take heart in is that their defence is very weak with Fitzgerald their only strong defender.
If we are to win this game (which we simply have to) we need big changes in the back 4, Cobh are full of pace going forward so thats what we need in our back 4, if Treacy could get fit for this one it would be superb news. We need to start protecting that back 4 in games like this with a holding midfielder but Gillespie is not the answer he is another red card waiting to happen so wheter we have another viable option there im not so sure, it would be a shame to see his power going forward wasted but maybe Mark Salmon could do a job there? Maybe give Quinn his chance through the middle despite his antics last week, he simply isnt a winger.
Up front we need to stop playing long balls to Sully and having Shaw chasing the flick on, it should be the other way around! Maybe give Ischi his chance at CCS again, after all hes scored twice there this season?
Thoughts on that rather bold statement?
