Breaking news: FAI Disciplinary Control Unit opens investigation into possible attempts to involve a player in match fixing. The FAI was made aware of the allegation by Longford Town FC. The club has suspended 1 player during its own separate internal investigation although this action does not imply that the suspended player is guilty of the allegation. The FAI has shared all information with relevant partners including UEFA, FIFA and An Garda Síochána. The Association will ensure that all necessary measures are taken to uphold the integrity of the sport. Main points to be aware of, nobody has been found guilty, it may be a case if somebody approaching a player and the player reporting it. And of course as of this time no player has been or should be named. Until the internal and FAI investigation has been completed.
