Dear Mr. Lennox,
You must wonder what all the fuss is about!
One of your players started on the bench last night (for the first time this season, I think) and the team's performance was poor. This afternoon the Evening Echo prints a cheap headline over an article by a cheap writer.
This evening, the doom and gloom predictions rattle around the airwaves and on the internet.
You must have smiled when you saw the Echo online headline "Trouble for City as stars set to leave".
Because you know that newspapers are there to make money, and often do not allow facts to get in the way of a good story.
And because you know as well as most people that the present dip in the club's fortunes does not reflect the strengths within the club:
You have a pedigree manager and nearly a full squad of talented players.
There is a flock of talent coming up through the ranks.
You have the best fans in the country.
Apart from short term cash flow difficulties due to lack of recent home games, the club is in a healthy financial state.
This business with Georgie can be handled. He is passionate about his football, and that is good, because you can work with that. And so is Pat Dolan. And the same thing - success in the EL, is what both are after. So it should not be too difficult to sort things because the common ground is there.
Many people who know people in the playing and admin staff in CCFC (myself included) have heard about the camps, the low morale, and so forth. Show me any club worth its salt and I will show you the same.
However it appears recently that the differences off the pitch have affected players' performances, and team cohesion. This is not healthy, but, again, it can be sorted. Any good facilitator hired in for a day should be able to move on all the issues, if people want to resolve matters.
Although I am a fan of recent vintage (2000 onwards) I have a real wish for this club. I believe that you have the good will and backing of most supporters. From what I know, I do not believe that the departure of a high profile person from City will necessarily resolve much, and it is almost certainly not the only way forward.
With the right approach, you can end with a win-win situation, and than maybe we can get back to winning games.
