Sports Auction and Cycle in aid of Motor Neurone Disease

Hopefully this is the right place to put this - I just wanted to draw your attention to a sports auction and football ground themed cycle a group of us are doing from Ireland and England to raise funds for and awareness of Motor Neurone Disease.

The reason for the fundraising is due to a friend of ours Scott Bell an ex footballer who played for Blyth Spartans AFC (Conf North) being diagnosed with MND at the tender age of 32.

[FONT=Tahoma]The motor neurone diseases (MND) are a group of neurological disorders that selectively affect motor neurones the cells that control voluntary muscle activity including speaking, walking, breathing, swallowing and general movement of the body; 50% of people die in the first 14 months following diagnosis.

One of the fundraising ideas we had was to get signed legend shirts from football teams in England,Scotland,Spain and Ireland as well as music bands/celebrities to sign shirts of teams they support.[/FONT]

We have created an online auction page see attached there are 47 sports items donated including a No.5 Richard Dunne signed shirt back and front and Paul McGrath signed Euro '88 shirt pictures and detail included see auction page:

The items range from a Stone Roses signed Man United shirt to a Johan Cruyff signed 1974 world cup shirt.

The football ground themed charity cycle from Ireland to the North East of England in aid of Motor Neurone Disease, in May leaving Lansdowne Road Dublin on May 1st and cycling to Windsor Park Belfast; from the North Of Ireland we will take a ferry to Troon and cycle on to Glasgow visiting Celtic Park and Ibrox Park. Our target is to reach Croft Park home of Blyth Spartans by 2:00pm Saturday 5th of May where there will be a charity match to raise funds for MND.

This cycle is self funded and has the support of Scott and his family and Blyth Spartans AFC.
