I am chasing the tune that opened up this show in the mid 90's, in Dineen's time there, it was an electronic as opposed to guitar led, but not Bass Odyssey's 'Twilight' track, which I'm almost sure came later. the artist may have been Decal, (or maybe that was the tune, not 100%).
Anyway, having a bit of bother putting my hand to it, and all help appreciated,

It boasts both electronically and guitars and is very familiar to me now that I've listened to it.
Brilliant track from great album: "Better Living Through Chemistry". Didn't he also use "Smokebelch" by Sabres of Paradise (Andy 'Screamadelica' Weatherall) as theme music at one point?

But I think you might be looking for the track by Fatboy Slim ‘Santa Cruz’ which Donal used in an opening sequence in which he appeared.

Ah, No Disco. There's a blast from the past. I used to watch it religiously. That and some weird, late night weekend show with Sean Moncrieff and Barry Murphy. ('Fragmentary Annals of Ireland' anyone?)
Uaneen waxing lyrical about Mercury Rev and a bunch of other stuff I'd never heard of. Happy days.
Bonnieshels, effort appreciated, but its neither of those tunes ! It was quite a minimal sounding progressive beat led track, and I keep thinking Decal was the artist or the tune title, leaning toward artist, but its a long time and a lot of nights out, ago.
Any chance of running the Decal thing past that RTE person who was good enough to reply? or I can, if you are short on time and want to send the contact. After that I may have to just leave it if nothing turns up.
CTP, it was mo trouble at all. It's the sort of thing that bugs me on a regular basis. When you posted this thread I started thinking and it started to annoy the hell out of me as well. Anyway in the end it was Santa Cruz that was annoying me.
I'll email your man about Decal and see what comes back.

There was a track by dECAL and he's going to check the records now for the track name.

Mostly sad for me as a result of Uaneen's untimely demise. That memorial in Borris-in-Ossory always made me catch my breath.

Its a smasher isnt it? And the tune still sounds good, has stood the time test well, great times for music, No Disco was almost like a good friend for a lot of people I knew, it didnt matter if you were skint on a Thursday as at least No Disco was on. Simpler times.Quote:

Watching Uaneen there actually brought a lump to my throat. Hard to believe she'd be 40 now!
I don't think there's a show like it that's held with such reverence in this country. Quite deservedly so.
EDIT: Talking to a few heads in here and the way they get animated about No Disco is really something.

Uaneen was one of the best friends new and alternative Irish music had. Met her once at the Hot Press awards in Belfast back in the late 90's. She was lovely. Came over and chatted with us for an age when there was lots of famous heads about the place she could've been off rubbing shoulders with. Bless her.
