Candystripes set to appoint McGeough
Derry City appear to have found a new manager and may be set to unveil Jimmy McGeough before Friday night's trip to Waterford United. Former Derry City player favourite Jimmy McGeough, whose last position was as manager of Waterford, is the favourite to be named.
With the team and staff due to head south tomorrow it is unlikely there will be any announcement at the Brandywell until their return. City have been without a manager since the May 29 resignation of Gavin Dykes with senior player Peter Hutton taking charge in a caretaker capacity.
Club’s directors met on Sunday with chairman Jim Roddy, releasing a statement saying the Board was “moving swiftly to appoint a new manager”. Belfast-born McGeough, aged 60, met with Board members following Derry’s 3-0 loss to Bohemians while former Sligo boss Don O'Reardon was at last Saturday's game against Longford.
But McGeough is the man expected to be in the hotseat ahead of the following weekend's trip to Richmond Park and a meeting with St. Patrick's Athletic.
