It's be interesting to see alright, you could probably pick at least 4 teams, certainly 3 anyway with the standard squad of 20-22 and the 10 or so obvious ones around the fringes.
Even at that I'm sure I've missed some obvious ones.Code:Given
O'Shea St Ledger Dunne Kilbane
McGeady Andrews Whelan Duff
Keane Doyle
Westwood
Foley McShane O'Dea Cunningham
Fahey Gibson Wilson Lawrence
Long Kehoe
B. Murphy
Kelly Duffy Clark Ward
Coleman McCarthy Meyler Hunt
Stokes Best
Also:
J. Murphy
Delap
Greene
Miller
Rowlands
N. Hunt
D. Murphy
Garvan
J. O'Brien
Ireland
Sheridan
McGuire
Given
O'Shea Dunne Sledge Kilbane
Lawrence Whelan Andrews Duff
Keane Doyle
Versus An Ireland select in the Roy Evans Liverpool mid 90s 3 - 5 -2 with McGeady in the McManaman role..
(GK) Westwood
(RCB)Kelly (CB)Wilson (LCB)Clarke
(RWB)Coleman (LWB) Ward
(CM)Meyler (CM)McCarthy
(AM) McGeady
(FR)Walters (STR)Stokes
We seem to have alot of defensive prospects with Coleman, Cunningham, Clark and Duffy, midfield prospects in McCarthy and Wilson, and Stokes up front. Then theres older guys still with alot of international potential in Foley, Ward, Kelly, Gibson, Fahey, Long, N. Hunt, Walters, Folan, Best and obviously Joe Lapira.
I reckon a possible v probable game would sell more tickets than this Norway friendly!!
We are stuck for a CH. Suggest to Trap that he can use McShane there just as he has done before and give us a loan of Sledge.
Then Wilson can partner McCarthy at CM
Meyler is not back yet but Stephen Hunt should be fit enough in a month
Coleman Clark Sledge Kelly (or someone)
McCarthy Wilson
McGeady Fahey Hunt
Stokes
extras, Long, Walters
Who says "we don't have the players"? There's a lot of decent players there and some good potential.
OK, it helps if they are all fit enough to turn up, which hasn't been the case, and preferably match-sharp too.
You can add Chris McCann and Keith Treacy to the list, and I'm sure I'm forgetting others too.
take your pick from here: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Posi...s?positionID=2
Paddy McCarthy?
You would need a bit of experience considering Clark is a greenhorn.
Afair, McCarthy is one tough nut,
O'Dea? Ipswich have lost 2/3 games since he got injured.
Much of a muchness.
Trap's team will be labouring at the back against the relentless mobility of the 4231. Their two midfield bollards won't even be able to pass the ball sideways, means O'Shea and Dunne lumping it high to Doyle, at every opportunity.
Whichever of them (McCarthy or O'Dea) would be best suited to that challenge gets my pick.
