Thought a thread on well known Irish soccer personalities of the past would be interesting. All this talk about Cork football reminded me of Dave Bacuzzi who led Cork Hibs to success in the 1970s. Beat the Hoops in a title play off :mad:. Anyone know what happened to him?
He became a Travel Agent,I'd say retired now??
From a more recent era, anyone know the whereabouts of James (Jimmy) Mulligan, ex Cork City, Finn Harps and Sligo striker? Left Cork City around 2002/2003 and never heard a thing about him since.

Sounds right. Couldn't find a list of top LoI goal scorers which was surprising. There's a Wikipedia page now for someone to build. I remember Mick Leech scoring a rake of goals one season for Rovers but I dobn't think he ever matched Brendan Bradley's 29. Where is Bradley now by the way?
Still lives in Derry and remains a regular at Finn Park.
I'm nearly sure Dan McCaffery has 29 in one League season.
This is for research purposes really. He was the first writers' playerof the year I think.It was in the 1060-61 season when Drumcondra won the title

That's a lot of goals, and in just 22 games as well! Cork only came third too.
Bradley's must have been a club record then I guess.. whoops!

Tell me about it. They only wore sky blue for one season. As a kid I remember seeing them playing the great Waterford team and losing 4-2 after leading 2-0 at HT. Eoin Hand and Pete Mahon were playing for Drums that day. They traditional colours were yellow and blue and still as they are in the LSL.Quote:

The 3 Englishmen of that Great Waterford team on the late 1960s/1970s: Johnny Matthews, Peter Thomas and Peter Bryant. I remember standing on the terraces as a kid in Milltown and hearing the venon being shouted in their direction from the Hoops supporters as by and large the Blues got the better of us (the Cup Final apart). DO they still live in Waterford?
Johnny Mathews is still floating around. Couldn't tell you about the other two though I'm sure someone else could.
Johnny Matthews is still very much around, always at the home games, and at many of the away matches too, sometimes filling in on the live radio commentary on WLR.
Peter Thomas is also still here, though he doesn't go to games anymore.
Peter Bryan moved to the States years back, probably in the region of 28-30 years ago, and is still there, California IIRC.
Just wondering the other day - whats Mark Rutherford and Gary Haylock upto these days, anyone know?
