Dazzle DVC 100

i have this hooked up so i can record my xbox,when i go into the software and turn the xbox on,i can hear the sound on my laptop but the video box to the right is black,any ideas?

in guessing its to d owith your display settings you often get this when connecting s-video cables. Try right clicking on desktop->properties=>settings and make sure that its enabled and you are on screen 1 or 2 depending on whats connected and set the display to be the relevant one.
