Hostels in France; any recommendations? Hotels are pricey, think as our gang is on a budget I need to look at the cheapest options in the best location possible ie. near metro etc.

Hi ptegan, one of the lads has provisionally booked us in the Eden Opera on the Pigalle (http://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/eden...out=2009-11-19). Any idea what it's like? Cheap and cheerful is fine, just want to make sure it's clean and safe. Thanks!

Hi ptegan. We're staying at the Roma Sacré-Coeur which I've been told is in a decent part of the city. Are there many good pubs around there which won't rip you off with prices? From what I recall, Paris is one of those cities where you have to be careful in some bars as you can be charged the likes of €15 for a beer.

Cheers! It was pretty amazing to be honest. I bought www.travellinggreens.com, created a very basic site with a few pages and the next thing I knew I was on the phone to the FAI and was mentioned in the Evening Hearld !

Another "ok" hotel. Nothing much to worry about once you book a 3-star hotel and it's in a reasonable area. You're a 10 minute walk to the Gare d'Nord where it's only 1 stop to the Stade on the RER B (suburban train).

Nice hotel in a very nice area. In Paris the pubs set their own prices so it can be €7 in one place and €3 next door. Basically you're paying the €4 difference will be due to the ambiance, music, beautiful people who drink there... If you're with a bunch of people then you can make even the cheapest place seem great !
If you want to drink in an Irish pub then be prepared to pay €7 for a pint of Guinness. If you're willing to drink anything than it'll be €4 in a French-type cafe/bar.

- Is it easy to get from Bastille area to CDG Airport as we have an early flight on Thur morning?
- Can you recommend one or two budget hotels in the Bastille area? Cheap and cheerful once clean and safe is what we're after.
Bastille hotels here.
