The head of the Government Information Service, Mandy Johnston, said she was offended by an article in The Star, which referred both to her and to Mandy Rice-Davis, a call-girl whose affair with British Conservative MP John Profumo led to the collapse of the Tory government in the 1960s.
She was described as "the Longford lass" and "Bertie Ahern's batgirl" who was "beavering away" on Fianna Fáil's behalf.
She attempted to sue Independent Star Ltd and journalist John Donlon for alleged libel arising out of the article.

John Donlon is also a Longford native and a member of FF...

Is Albert Reynolds from Longford or Westmeath?
Roscommon originally, but ran in the old Longford - Westmeath... represented Dublin in his last 7 or 8 years.
Did he own a pet food company down there in the midlands somewhere?
And general bullsh!t writer when it comes to De Town.... Hate part timers who preach after cup finals...Quote:

AFAIK, he was always Long-West until the last constituancy change...
Master Buckfast seller is short term stop gap...
They have good Christmas parties there I hear. :DQuote:
I know, but you said he represented Dublin his last few years - he was Longford-Westmeath, and then Longford-Roscommon, then off to several board rooms.... Dublin doesn't enter it....Quote:

In his last term he had his monkey Doherty knocking around on his behalf while he sold his longford residence and moved to Dublin full-time... I was only mocking the fact that he was a Long-Ros TD...;)
