Apparantly ... most of the Anti-Virus providers add in code/viruses into their software so that you'll have to get an upgrade of the software to rid yourself of the new viruses.
It is just a ploy to get you to pay for an upgrade.
But then again ... i could be wrong and most companies wouldn't dream of trying to generate repeat business for themselves that way.
I wouldn't be astonished if it was true. Haven't had any problems with this software yet.Quote:

I'm saving all the viruses I get onto a disk, it's a new hobbie of mine. I've got quite a collection.:D

The idea is to get rid of them ... not save them !! :)

what i do :D
i dont know where i'd be without winamp
Opera internet browser is a god send - way faster at loading pages than internet explorer and you can block pop-ups!
The new Firebird browser from Mozilla looks decent too.
The WebCrawler toolbar is a nifty piece of software - I find it produces more and better results than google once you get used to it.
If your looking for free stuff that's a bit unusual try:

I particularly liked the idea of 'careware'

Definately my favourite. I use it at home. The tabbed browsing is very hadny.Quote:

WinZip is as good as.
After that Winamp is handier than Windows Media, Kazaa Lite is great and Ad Aware ha done me a lot of favours.
Leaving out WinZip, my choice of superb freebies in no particular order:
1. AdAware - rooting out spyware.
2. AVG - anti-virus program.
3. SoulSeek - the best P2P network of the lot.
4. Mailwasher - amazing for bouncing unwanted emails before downloading to PC.
5. ZoneAlarm - very effective firewall.
:D PP
How many people actually paid for WIn Zip? I did - years ago. At the time there were no CD's and zip drives were very rare so it was something that was needed to make spanning floppies much easier so I felt I should do the right thing. It cost next to nothing.
A good free statistics package is:

OK, its slanted a bit towards palaeontology and all the case studies are palaeontological but anyone needing to use it can adapt or 'evolve' the case studies.
Kazaa for my mp3 needs.
1. Mozilla
2. AVG
3. Nedit
4. Jedit
5. WebPad (well it's not free, but the best $25 I ever spent!)
And all your spyware! Try SoulSeek - ****es all over KaZaa. And no nasty mess after.Quote:
