Again, I presume this has been discussed before but is there any (not too technical) advice in relation to putting VHS onto DVD's? I hear that for editing purposes it's better to put them onto a PC first, unless it's just a straight conversion. I don't suppose there's just one simple cable that connects the video recorder to the PC by any chance?

If you want to edit it, yeah, put it on the pc, but otherwise, don't bother.

You could buy the thing A N Mouse posted though that is more expensive than a TV Card (at least a relatively cheap one). However, if you have a Desktop and not a Laptop it is tough to install the TV Card (it involves opening up the computer). There may be cheaper USB converters out there and those would probably be easier. I do like the TV Card though because you can also watch TV on it.
A dazzle dvc 100 gives decent quality, have converted a couple of old Rovers vhs tapes to dvd using it. Its a USB capture card so you dont have to go messing taking the back of your computer or anything.
Got mine at PC World last year for 35 euros. Only works with Windows XP though, not vista.
Ah thats the thing I was going to buy a few years back to record goals to my computer (go TV -> VHS -> PC, which would've been a much bigger pain), just couldn't remember the name. I'd go with that DeLoreanQuote:
