Well it depends if you want to have green on all outcomes.
In Your example above if you backed Dundalk with €100 @ 3.95, leaving you with profit of €295 if they won, and a loss of €100 if they didn't
If you laid them for €101 @ 3.8, you'd have a liability of €282.8 if the lost and a profit of €101 if they didn't
These combined would give you an "all green" total of €12.2 if Dundalk win, and €1 if its a draw or a Dundalk loss
You could lay off you stake (€100 @ 3.8) which would see have no profit/loss on loss/draw and €15 profit on Dundalk win

Where trading really works is in play betting. If you back Dundalk and they go a goal up, their price plummets and you lay off for nice profit regardless of result (Tennis is unbelievable for trading)
Aye,
My "betting" consists exclusively on in play trading. I mostly trade on the total goals market, as there is a buffer. Doesn't prevent something going wrong, ie I lost €400 or so do to three goals in three minutes in the Lillestrom v Start game during the week there.
One small correction "If you laid them for €101 @ 3.8, you'd have a profit of €282.8 if the lost and a profit of €101 if they didn't"
Actually, you'd have a liability of €282.8 if they lost.
Yeah, sorry. Changed that now.
I mainly trade on the 2/5 goals market in football. Have been known to dabble in other markets mind ;)
Tennis and the US sports are my other main interests
Dodge, do you have an excel worksheet or something made up for doing this?
Not really. I'm OK with maths though and of course you can have betfair give you the possible outcomes before the result. I can do up a spreadsheet if you want...

I've a fairly comprehensive spreadsheet done up if you want it?
@ Maribor, that'd be pretty cool. Send me a PM please.
I have something like this for accumulators, just stick in the different odds for all the bookies and the calculations are done for you.
In work ATM, then heading to Dundalk for our match.
I'll send it on tomorrow.
Click on More Options which is just under the Refresh button/amount matched.
From this drop-down menu, tick the "Display 'what if' figure".
This will show your P/L on each outcome as you type the stake before actually submitting the bet.
Hope this helps!
