Should We Try Something Like This?

Bohemians are to pilot a new membership software scheme to allow its members quick and easy access to Dalymount Park on match days.

The solution developed by Club 2000 is due to installed in two weeks time.
Phase One is expected to begin shortly with members issued with a special swipe card, allowing them access to the ground via a members-only turnstile.

The second phase is expected to allow members to put money onto their membership card which can then be spent in any of the club bars, or used as payment towards membership fees or international tickets.

It wouldn't be too difficult to implement and hopefully we could have it in place by the time the new shed end is built. Whenever that happens.

It's a good idea alright... but it comes back to the old problem that City don't own the Cross. Imagine approaching the MFA feens with a swipe card idea...

Whatever about the swipe card idea, surely City should get some sort of membership sheme going?
I believe something like this is going to initiated by SPA.
A group of people, somewhere between 250 to 500, agree to pay a membership "fee" every month. SPA have plans to hold a draw each month, but will make a tidy profit.
We should be doing something similar. Surely there would be enough City fans prepared to pay €25 - €20 a month to the club to make it worth while?

it makes counting attendance numbers very easy, man city use a system like that at their new stadium, it can work well for loyality points, every game you go to you get points on your card etc and you can use those points in local shops etc.

That's a fair point Neil but surely it could be portable to a certain extent? The membership idea is good too but isn't it, in a way, fans buying into the club? Not sure the owners would be keen on that.

As mentioned, it'd be great for checking attendances, which will be important for UEFA licencing if my memory serves.

I'm not sure that the benefits would justify the initial cost, especially when city don't have a bar on-site and the club shop isn't open that regularly.

For 2003 Season, there is always (unless they have popped out for a tick) someone in the office and will look after the shop.

Normally 2-3 people milling around.
In the close season probably not as much activity around the shop but still people there all the time to look after it.

they do that in a lot of grounds in Spain with season tickets. Very handy straightforward idea I'd imagine
