Turntable stylus

Any thoughts or tips on how best to prevent the needle skipping on LP's ?

Clean it?

Peat's have (had a couple of years ago) loads of stuff for cleaning and replacing styli.

Sometimes dusty records cause the stylus to skip. I had decks back in the day and got vinyl cleaner and gave it a rub after using the record. Made the records stay good quality and kept the stylus from wearing out as quick

EDIT: On the plural of stylus: Oxford and Miriam-Webster both prefer styli. Pineapple is right.
