Athlone hopeful on stadium approval

Ambitious Athlone Town are hopeful that the Government will give the go-ahead to the club’s stadium project at Lissywollen, and that work could commence on the new venue at some stage within the next couple of weeks.

Project manager Tom Burke, has announced that Athlone Town Stadium Ltd, the company slated with overseeing the stadium development, have come to a decision on a preferred contractor for the project, and are now awaiting Government approval to start work at Lissywollen.
