REFEREE Alan Kelly may not be on Noel King's Christmas card list but he has certainly won a few friends in the media.
After the second leg of the promotion/relegation play-off final last Saturday, Kelly invited the press into his dressing room to give his version of the game's controversial moments.
He said that the ball was stationary when Gareth McGlynn took the quick free-kick that led to Liam Coyle's winning goal - and that he'd no option but to dismiss King at half-time in extra time when he came onto the pitch. "He didn't want to talk to his players. He came out and had a go at me and he abused me. That's the only reason he was sent off," claimed Kelly.
The referee added that Shane Bradley's red card was for serious foul play, while Kevin McHugh received his for violent conduct, having been warned previously about his conduct.
