One of the songs from the album
I like it :D
Though it's certainly lighter in tone than anything that was on THB
I particularly like the title..
She Bathed Herself In A Bath Of Bleach
I got to hear the full album during the week - its brilliant.
Theres an urgency and spikiness to the band that has been missing for years - of course the lyrics are fantastic and the band have really conjured up some great music to accompany them.
Its got far more going for it than Holy Bible part II, though.
Literally too much going on in the record to summarise - best discovered for yourself anyway!!!
It's not The Holy Bible Part II, but some excellent lyrics by Richie and some fantastic tracks in there. 'Pretension/Repulsion' 'Peeled Apples' and 'All Is Vanity' are my highlights. Even the Nicky Wire sung 'William's Last Words' is affecting despite the fact that his voice is woeful. Great album.
by the way on 'Peeled Apples' the chorus sounds strangely like 'Temptation' Heaven 17 to me!
Favourite tracks at the moment:
Jackie Collins Existential Question Time, Me and Stephen Hawking,
She Bathed Herself in a Bath of Bleach,Pretension/Repulsion,
Virginia State Epileptic Colony.
Nicky Wire's vocal is abysmal on "Williams Last Words" alright - the sentiment in the lyrics and the emotive delivery covers up its failings, I think.
Spot on re Peeled Apples chorus. Wouldn't surprise me if its deliberate!!
Heading along to this on Thursday. Should be a good gig!!
Anyone else wanting to go to the gig pm me. I have 2 free tickets (well guest list rather than actual tickets) that I wont be able to use and none of my family or friends can make it either so they are up for grabs.
