County hit with suspension crisis
Kildare County’s play-off hopes have been dealt a blow with the news that the Thoroughbreds will have to field without three players for Thursday night’s match against Dundalk.
Ray Kenny, Philly Hughes and Damien Brennan all received an automatic one match suspension for being shown the red card against Bray Wanderers on Saturday last.
The suspensions cannot be appealed under eircom League rules and the players could receive longer bans when the Disciplinary Committee meet on November 12.
County currently occupy fourth place in the first division with Limerick, who are also vying for that last play-off place only three points behind on 47 points.
With Ben Whelehan and Alan Keely still injured, Kildare manager Eric Hannigan faces a crisis at the worst possible time of the season with only four matches remaining, the last of which is against the Shannonsiders.
