Dundalk legend helps save lives

Former Republic of Ireland international Tommy McConville helped avert a potential tragedy at the weekend after the driver of the Dundalk under-21s’ team bus took ill at the wheel, leading to the vehicle going out of control and careering across the grass verge onto the opposite side of the motorway.

The team, of which McConville is the manager, was travelling to the capital for an under-21 match against Dublin City at the Aer Lingus complex at the time of the incident, which happened near Dunleer in County Louth.
