Have always watched this on BBC and must say the RTE version is proving to be as good if not better.
Dana was on last night, quite interesting though she was slightly irritating at times, bigamy seems to have been de rigeur in the late 19th century.
Best laugh so far was Charlie Birds face when he found out his grandad was a bigamist.

Joe Duffy was on some week as well, along with some journo from Sligo and one of the McGuiness family. Its very well done to be fair, and i'd say they cost a fortune to make as well, fair play.

Im just guessing but I would say its the same company that makes that programme for both RTE and BBC.

I'd say you might be right. Irish telly's record of doing their own versions of shows is far from stellar, but it does stand out how well done this is.
On a slight side note, the Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen one on English telly recently was very good too.

For me, I like all of the above posts and think they are relevant and correct.
The opening titles of the 'RTE' and ' BBC' and the end image of the opening titles of 'Six Feet Under' are very similar, but maybe that's just me.

I think encouraging genealogy is totally cool and also should be done subtlety. But the mechanisms of visiting the local Library, Church or Historical Society should treated as normal.
The decendent should never be embarrassed or have to explain themselves. They are asking institutions, inst. can start listening and reply correctly.
