in the draw ? can we get anyone like an open draw or is it in sections like last time ? imagine if we pulled AC Milan with kaka and ronaldinho.......
still 4 games in europe and 3 wins, 1 draw. not to shabby is it.

Sligo turncoat :D

No, in fairness, fair play to Pats.
Would love to see them getting Portsmouth. I could get at least 10 to go from London

We can get one of

AC Milan
Hertha Berlin
Spartak Moscow
Partizan Belgrade
Besiktas

Think we'll lose to all 5 (although I thought Elfsberg would beat us handily) so I'd like Milan for the jolly up ;)

Spartak Moscow would be the most poetic really; for Pats to beat the team that Drogs were convinced they could topple had those chances against Kiev gone the right way;)

Whats the story with gate reciepts in Europe?
would Pats only get revenue from their home leg?

Think so (with no real basis for that). All 5 teams we face come from decent leagues with probability of a bidding war for TV rights, so thats where the money is made

Yes and the tv revenue. Germany, Italy and Turkey are huge tv paydays. Russia and Serbia are not.

Pity ye can't get citeh, they were probably the worst team to get through the last round...

I'd love it if ye got Milan and beat them. With Senderos at the back leaking goals and all. it'd shut up our Athlone friends anyway. ;)

Heartha Berlin would be a big money game too, germans fork out bigtime for TV rights.

Maybe ye might share the money with the rest of us :D :D

Milan would be a massive draw, you would get peole all over the country looking for tickets to the home leg.

If they draw Milan - send John Minnock down to exorcise the demons during the half time break against their sub keeper...

Was at Hertha Berlin vs. Eintracht Frankfurt in February.. They were trashed 3-0 and were muck.. They play at the Olympic Stadium - the one that hosted the WC Final in 2006, it's a great venue.

Might it be going ahead in the RDS now

could do - at least the headache of both grounds not being available has been seen off

First Leg in Berlin will be played in this unimpressive little ramshackle ground:

Great draw. German tv money is very lucrative. Still a chance (albeit a small one) of makingthe group stages.

The RDS or wherever should sellout but then it not a big club like Portsmouth or Motherwell. The sad thing is that if Hibs had gone all the way beaten Elfsborg, pats etc and played Hertha Berlin in Dublin they'd get far more tv coverage and press coverage and probably a bigger crowd.

Good draw... especially logistically! how many pats fans are checking flights as we speak!!!!

First leg is away, if they lose 3/4-0 then they will probably miss out o tv revenue

They cant switch to home first because the RDS is unavailable by all accounts

Presume home leg will be in RDS?

Réiteoir

If they switch to a home tie - then thanks to the RDS and Croker not being available - they will have nowhere to actually play the game

St. Pat's should start selling tickets as soon as possible and hopefully have a lot sold in case of a 3-0/4-0 defeat in the away leg..

I saw 'em against Dortmund earlier in the season and they won to go top.
Remind me a bit like Spurs ... capital city team that fail to deliver.
Great stadium though and really enjoyable city.

As an aside they have possibly the worst team crest known to man.

Actually - the full tltle of the club makes them sound like the German wing of those little scrotes who have done so much damage to the image of the League and Bohs in the past:

Hertha BSC Berlin

I'm would have a reasonable guess that the temporary seats in the RDS may present problems and may not be useable.

It all comes down to how well they are anchored.

Réiteoir
29/08/2008, 11:32 AM
Temporary seats apparently aren;t permitted according to the UEFA Stadia Regs published in 2006 - although that stance may have changed since

Good draw for Pats considering the alternatives. Might be some good German TV money available too.
