Rovers stadium back on track

It has been a bad week for Shamrock Rovers, but there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel with reports that work is about to resume on the construction of their Tallaght stadium.

The homeless Hoops were evicted from Richmond Park by St Patrick’s Athletic last week and have been on the search for a temporary home over the last few days. For Rovers fans, the situation is demoralising, but they could soon have a home of their own.

Rovers officials are believed to be very close to finalising a deal with a financial institution to get builders back on-site and finish building the stadium.

“The deal is imminent and once those funds are released, building work will resume in Tallaght,” claimed a club source.

The deal is thought to be worth somewhere in the region of €5 million and that could be enough to see Liam Buckley’s men playing in the stadium next season.
