A number of years ago I was at a meeting in the George hotel convened by supporters of Limerick FC and attended by a respectable number of people many of whom had not been near a game in many years, and chaired by Mick Crowe in an entirely ex officio capacity, at which the problems of the club at that point were aired and they were very bad then.
In the course of this meeting a quantity of money was raised specifically to pay players.
This meeting was convened by using radio and newspapers as well as word of mouth and invitation to let supporters know what was really happening at the club.
I suggest that a similar meeting could be convened and used not only to raise money by donation, but to call on the committee to do the honourable thing and to resign on masse. There could then be a new one formed by the supporters present and for that committee to set up club memberships, this could put the club if not on a secure financial footing then at least into a situation from which future progress could be made.
