Shhhhh, we're trying to get up there as early as possible so we can hit the bottle bar. Should have some form of bus by tonight (sc members keep an eye on your phone for txts) so I reckon the usual 30+

Typical  A Part-time team have a game refixed for a Monday which is in two days time. It would have made more sense if it was refixed for the weekend of the 5th round of the FAI Cup as both sides are knocked out.

Listen here youngster, that type of thinking is just not on, how dare you suggest that a brain be used in looking farward beond the end of a pint glass. Full bus turned around half hour into journey today.

I meant to say Shels beating Longford 5-1 (was only 1 goal out) :D

As regards Athlone, what difference does 2 days over a wet weekend make to a waterlogged pitch?

It is a sand based pitch with built in drainage under it. If you get 2 hours dry weather all the water drains from it. During the really dry weather we have to put sprinlers on it for two days before matches to take the hardness out of it>

Spoke to the groundsman about 5 minutes ago and he says there is no problem with it at the moment.

So definately going ahead tonight?

As I said the pitch was fine when I spoke to the groundsman.

I am travelling from Limerick as well and don't need another wasted journey. I will be checking again around 2pm before I leave here and I will be in the ground from about 4.30 so can check again then

2 fine goals by Tierney but the suspect Athlone defence helped a little.
Tommy went off injured, anyone got any update on this?

Philbert??

As in Dilbert??

That crappy little office cartoon strip??

Unlike SLK you, sir, are clearly the height of cool

MORTIFIED FOR YOU etc etc etc

On the game that is easily the worst Athlone team I have ever seen a farce of a joke of an embaressment of a football team.

On an aside I realise Athlone Town FC is nowadays a mere husk of a once fairly decent football club but is there really any need to invite every skobie from the surrounding parishes to crawl on their bellies to the ground in an effort to boost a pathetic attendance which despite the presence of what seemed like at least 25,000 chav stereotypes still managed to barely scrape over the 100 mark??

FFS, sort your club out.

I think Hogan Park/UL and three nights a week are your answers there.

Not 100% mind.

I was hoping that somebody would take it a signal that I was curious as to how this Lyons character came about his nickname. May have been a bit subtle for you.

No, it wasn't too subtle, just a bit silly really.

The likes of you can just call in Thomas, that might be a bit simpler for you!

As i dont do sarcasm on this site, thanks for the compliment! :p

Yeah, he played in the friendly v Pike, and v Athlone away the following week.
He was very impressive v Pike, basically ran the show in mid-field, no exaggeration. He didnt stand out as much v Athlone but I'm expecting great things from him when he gets into the swing of it :ball:
