Sligo Rovers will be taking on Merville United in a friendly game this coming Wednesday (20th August) in the Showgrounds. Rovers manager Paul Cook wants a run out for his side before their league meeting against St. Patrick's Athletic. This is an historic season for Merville as they have re-entered the Sligo-Leitrim & District Soccer League and a number of their former players have gone on to play in the Eircom League. Admission is €5 for adults and free for children, kick-off is 7:45pm.

Chatting in pub bout this. This game must be one of the closest local derbys around (except for teams that share a ground of course) considering both grounds are literally across the road from each other.

What happened with Brush for Merville's first goal ?The ball got past him and it meant Merville were awarded a goal.
