Totally outclassed Athlone after they got a flukey early goal. Batman, Fitzy, Jorgy and Jay on the scoresheet. Another bizarre refereeing display, this time from Buttimer. Athlone were muck in fairness but you can only beat what's in front of you. Bring on the Bohez!

Hey Saigon, Look at the big picture - we should be aiming to to meet Bohez in the Final so we are guarnteed European football.

Bring on the Langers (if they haven't gone bust by then)

At least this time we benefited from a bizaree refereeing decision. Jorgensen handled the ball and instead of giving Athlone a free kick Buttimer gave us a corner kick from which Fitzgerald scored. Poor positional sense from Buttimer but who cares at least we won.

the difference between part time and full time was clear to all last night. Buttimer was a joke but its not so bad seen as we won. Russel was left on the floor at least twice after bad tackles yet there was no whistle. Linesman got in on the action too with some wrong decisions but at least he wasnt afraid to use his flag when he saw fouls.

DAisy shouldve been on earlier he would have scored.

All in all I am happy out , I know Jay was always going to get man of the match , but I was more tham happy with the display from Foley which can be best discribed as gritty . I would go on and say that he will be in the team for next week also . I think it's time Kenna dropped himself to the bench .

I thought it was one of jeffs better matches. Athlone had there homework done and were trying to get in behind him but he had the legs on their riight winger 90% of the time. I have to agree about foley also, he even got an assist for the lester goal and looked very happy out there, even acknowledged the "theres only one Homer Foley" song :D Great performance all round even if it was a poor, unfit athlone side. The win will give them some self belief going into next fridays match against bohs

Makes you wonder what the odds will be on Bohs scoring within the first 5 minutes .
Not sure what the back line will be next week but with Batman out we will see some sort of a rejig at the back .

I'd say it will be Conneely, Jeff, Fitz, McCullough

Levi Tierney, he was with us at the start of the season.
He's something like 6' 2" but manages to shrink to 5' when he goes for a header!

Good start from us and we wasted a few chances but the gulf between f/t and
p/t was clear for all to see.

Between Butters in the middle and Deering on the line how could anyone expect
a game without mistakes!!!

I would say you are right Terry , but one thing for sure they are going to be in for a busy night trying to keep Bohs out :o

i would really worry about the lack of pace in the middle of that back four. but i reckon he will go with it. and when lester is back it will be, conneely, lester, fitz, mccullough

Of course Bohs will score inside the first five minutes, I mean how many teams haven't scored against us yet this season within the first two minutes.

We have been behind after 5 min in 6 games
Cobh, UCD & Bray 2min
Rovers 3min
Athlone & Derry 5min.
Behind to Rovers & Drogs after 17min. Cork 18min
Pats 22 min. Bohs 23min.
We have taken the lead in 10 games.
Of those 10 Cork were the only ones to win. Drew 3, Harps, Pats & Sligo.
