Quick Question Ref,

who picks which referrees and assistant ref's get the call up, do UEFA approach the fAI for ref's, or are their names just put forward to UEFA to evaluate them. I remember seeing a documentary on a referee training facility prior to the last world cup, where refs were tested on fitness etc., does something like this exist for UEFA.

The FAI nominate referees they think are good enough to make the FIFA panel and they are assessed on a continuous basis by FIFA.

FIFA then decide if they are good enough or not.

UEFA appoint referees and assistant referees to all official competitions.

The FAI would find referees for friendlies.

Does this mean that that FIFA are as incompetent as the FAI?
I'm not trying to be a smartarse, but if Kelly, Foley and McKeon are reckoned to be amongst the best in Ireland, soccer in this country is in a seriously bad way.
I know Ref that you will say it's easy to criticise, but any fan of any club in this country would nominate this trio in the "Worst" category. We ALL can't be wrong.....

Can't see the ref that was in charge of the $hel$ Sligo Rovers replay ever getting a chance to ref a UEFA game
