From what I hear, the good news is that Mark Gough will not be in charge at Terryland for the Cup clash with Athlone - Kildare and Derry have the 'honour' of his appearance.
The bad news is we have Anthony Buttimer . . . . .

One clown replaced by another is all that's happened there.

So who would you like to referee our games?

Maybe we should do what Juve did and get the FAI to only appoint certain refs for our matches!

Since when was there only 2 referees in the league?
Buttimer,Gough,Kelly and Hanney are the main muppets. The rest are sub-standard but don't cause controversy everytime they officiate a match in Terryland.

Don't be so quick to reply next time JC.

Lads, forget about the ref, Poor refs normally don't help either team, I know MG inflames passions at Terryland and I can see why... no arguement there! I thought after O' Briens disallowed goal in the league cup against Bray that he gave us some very very soft decisions that was totally out of character for him!
Bad refs are an unfortunate fixture in our league, like sh1te weather and grounds without beer we just have to get on with it....we should in all honesty have too much in the locker for Athlone no matter who's ref

He's been out injured for the last year or so - his "comeback" game was Cobh v Bray a few weeks ago when he awarded Cobh a penalty at 1-1 and then reversed the decision after the linesman told him it was a dive and to give a free out!

Kelly was reffing in the Emirates tournament 2 weeks ago and is very highly rated by UEFA as an up and coming ref.

Recently we've had Hanney twice, Gough twice, Buttimer, Tomney, Kelly twice, Doyle and Hancock so we're not getting the same refs all the time.

There aren't a whole lot of Premier Division referees to go around so there is going to be some repetition. Referees are also semi-pro so when we play midweek we're more than likely going to get a referee based as near as possible to Galway, which would explain Mark Gough having reffed our LC matches.

To say a certain referee never gives us anything is a joke. When I was refereeing I'd referee the same sides all the time, you might get stick one week but the next week it's a new game and you forget about the previous one.

In fact you've mentioned all the referees who've been in charge of our last 10 games apart from Tomney who was the ref when we won in Bray! Neil Doyle who I am certain would have got stick for his performance in Cork and Damien Hancock who I know gufct rates highly!

So does this mean that Declan Hanney should referee every game from now until the end of the season?! Or just until he referees a game that we lose!

In any case if you want to help improve the standard of refereeing the best thing you can do is to take a referees course and take it up yourself.
