"This gave the Celtic fans the chance to see McCourt who is reported to be better than McGeady and as good as George Best." - :D

After being on for only three minutes McCourt almost grabbed his chance to impress the Parkhead faithful after Caddis beats Corluka and picks him out at the back post but his volley goes wide. Petrov is nearly on the scoresheet again but his free kick doesn't trouble Boruc.

My brother was at the game and he said that apart from the bad miss he played well enough and had some nice touches.

Rome wasn't built in a day etc etc....

i read on the e-tims rumour mill that the players are very impressed with his touches and that he threw up after a training session as he was not used to anything as intensive as that

It was Roddy Collins who said that about him according to Setanta Sports.

Yeah, he said it on MNS. Or at least something similar, don't think he put it exactly like that.

He didn't see much of the ball last night.

1. Got the ball. Ran a few metres down the line. Played a quick pass inside which was intercepted. Good quick thinking though.

2. Got the ball. Played a one touch pass to Samaras. Samaras played a one touch pass back to him. McCourt immediately played another one touch through ball but McGowan didn't read it. It was a fantastic pass though. It got around the Man City defender and if the striker made the run towards it would have got it.

3. Caddis beat a player on the right. McCourt made a run into the box from the left and nobody was tracking him. An inch perfect cross to him from Caddis. McCourt tried a spectacular volley but got his technique all wrong and scuffed it wide.

The rest of his involvements was off the ball from what I can remember but only had half an hour. It was impossible to make much of a judgement on him.

Celtic chief exec Peter Lawwell:
"We watched him for a while. The guy has fantastic ability. He has fitness issues but he's got great ability. We'd rather have that than someone who is fit but has ability issues. He is someone we can develop, put into our centre of excellence, expose to our sports science and our coaches' analysis, and turn into an SPL and a Champions League player. He's a fantastic lad."

Roddy Collins is a moron even before he opens his mouth and after he opens it he absolutely removes all doubt.Luckily everyone knows this already. Can you imagine moving forward in our career and the clown prince putting that kind of pressure on you.

Reports I have heard is McCourt is out of his depth. Although I must admit, they might be of the blinkered kind. I'm no rangers fan by the way but the reports came from the Rangers persuasion.

I don't expect that view to be held for long. The el is def of a higher standard to the SPL reserves and if he applies himself properly and shows the reight attitude I'm sure he will do very well

The SPL reserves is a terrible standard the IL 1st division would be of similar standard.

Watched a bit of that reserve match last night. He seems to have filled out a bit already. He isn't match fit yet obviously, but one thing I noticed is that he was playing a lot of simple one touch short passes, something he never did at Derry. Once he gets to the required fitness levels for Celtic I have no doubt he'll make a positive impact.

He was on the bench yesterday. Looks like he'll be heading to Manchester for the CL game too.

Scored this goal last week in the reserves.

Seems to be getting his fitness up to speed.
