Scully, Lynch take charge

Two of Drogheda United’s most experienced players, defenders Aidan Lynch and Pat Scully, will take temporary charge of the team for tonight’s Premier Division clash with Waterford United at O2 Park.

The Drogs parted company with manager Harry McCue after four years on Wednesday morning, and have vowed to fill the position on a permanent basis within the coming days.

However, former underage international Lynch, who helped Ireland to third place in the World Youth Cup finals in 1997, and ex-international Scully, a veteran with extensive experience of the league, have taken joint charge on a temporary basis for this evening’s visit of the Blues.

Drogheda have lost their last four league games to fall into the relegation play-off place, the same position they occupied at the end of last season.

The Board will want to fill the vacant post before the visit of Bohemians for an FAI Cup quarter-final clash at O2 Park in a week’s time.
