Lads just need a hand finding a hotel for my mate, I could go searching but I'd rather something some one could actually recommend, for his sins he's staying up in the pale.

Anyway what he needs is a few rooms, enough for 8 (6 adults 2 kids) , he's bringing family with him from Finland, all he said was not too pricey and not a dump either. Dublin city centre(ish) I'd say, but I imagine he wouldnt be put massively out if it was somewhere like City West or anywhere served by the Luas etc. Oct 3rd-5th.

Any recommendations and links? Dump em here. Cheers in advance.

The Clarion at Liffey Valley has family room and apartments. It's far out of the city bit it's on the doorstep of shopping centre, cinema etc

You can often get good deals in the Hilton who have 3 hotels in Dublin:

Hilton Dublin - Grand Canal, beside Luas Station

Hilton Kilmainham - new hotel, 10 mins walk to Luas

Hilton Malahide - (they call it the Hilton Dublin Airport), best value of all three Hiltons

Also, the Conrad just off St Stephen's Green is part of the Hilton Hotel group; this is a bit olde worlde but ther prices are very modern.

All Hiltons have a brilliant buffet breakfast. Room are clean and modern. Rates fluctuate. I have stayed at each of the 4 above hotels and you can secure rooms for as little as €120 if you are lucky.

For best value, try the Hilton Dublin Airport which is as close to the Airport as it is to O'Connell Street.

Wynns Hotel - on Abbey Street. Stayed there a few times, and you won't get much more central. Not sure on the kids friendliness, but wouldn't imagine any different to any of the others....

The Jurys Inn hotels charge per room so are usually good value for families.

You can get good rates at the former Jurys Hotels in Ballsbridge. Thats the hotels they were due to knock but couldn't get planning so reopened.

Was looking for rooms in August recently & fully booked so must be popular. Lansdowne Road Dart station is a few minutes away.

The Harcourt Hotel have great apartments at a reasonable rate and just on the edge of St Stephen's green. Have stayed in the hotel myself a few times and while not fancy it is clean and friendly. http://www.harcourthotel.ie/shaw_apartments.html

Stayed in Bloom's, liked it, cheap and right in the middle of things.

There's a couple of new hotels in Smithfield which look decent. Comfort Inn I think is one. Handy to get to on the LUAS too. Don't know what the rates are like mind you.
