Twice? Well then you are a fully fledged mo!!!!
I can take or leave ABBAs music to be honest but there is no denying they could write an outstanding pop tune. If you leave your cynisim at the door its a really enjoyable film.

I could just about take SATC. Purely because if you watched it, yu may score a few points with the ladies. Mamma Mia, on the other hand sounds like my idea of hell.

On the contrary i'd rather have my scrotum squeezed on a vice than go see SATC but i'd rent Mamma Mia when it comes out on dvd no problem , Always liked the odd ABBA tune

From what I've read and been told, it's good as musicals go.

That's the assumption I plan not to test, yes.

God I hate Abba and had to close my ears for most of Muriel's wedding to try and enjoy the flick so will be giving Mama Mia a wide berth. Pity though coz Lily from Veronica Mars is in it and it seems like it is good fun.

Even if you are not Abba's greatest fan (I'm certainly not), I challenge you to watch this movie and not come out with a smile on your face! It's great fun.

I saw the play in London as a xmas present for the other half and must admit I really enjoyed the play.
However, went to the film version with herself last week and alot of it was cringeworthy. Pierce Brosnan and Firth were horrible singers and I felt sorry for them cause they were trying too hard. To a lesser extent the same could be said for Meryl Streep. The daughter was a brilliant singer and the best performance in the film by a mile.
I still enjoyed it a little, but as was already said you have to put all your cynicism to one side!

No self respecting bloke should go to either film if you have to try that hard to get "some" then you have serious problems.
Its allways a test i use for birds if they like SATC or think they are like one of the charactors then they are gotten rid of straight away.
The Mamma Mia stage show is different to the movie if you like ABBA songs they are sung well in the show so that would be enjoyable but the film is an abortion of a musical i cant see how anyone could enjoy it.

yeah pretty much agree with this
I think any movie with Colin Firth surely has to be avoided

I love this....." I like a bit of art me but the film is so coarse and vulgar":D
the film is basically just the musical with a couple of location backdrops. its a good film. when ya deal with any repressed feelings of confusion you have you should go see it..

How do you know that unless you've seen it , in which case you can't claim to be a self respecting "bloke"

A broadway stage show with really good singers is the same as Pierce brosnan and colin firth swalking through a film ?? is that what your saying ?
I wouldnt go to the stage show either im just saying its a little bit different than the film.
I only added the getting some bit as people where using that as an excuse for going to it. Its not an excuse.

I actually thought Pierce was really good in it. His singing isnt technically brilliant but its endearing none the less. I enjoyed this film more than "No country for old men".
Which I had to misfortune to see the other day on dvd again. A deffinite case of the emperor having no clothes.

Well in fairness this is pure chick flick. But it differs from Sex and the City(anyone who uses the acromyn is a deffo flamer btw) which presents some silly new york lifestyle and implies every woman the world over should think the same.
