4-5-1 maybe,Mikey and Kizzy arent good enough to start imo especially against quality defenders like Price,O'Connor and Maguire.I predict a boring draw

yeah I agree, Mikey and Kelly arent good enough to start can see an all senior team start again. id say it'll look something like this. would go for a 4-5-1 formation aswell but hopefully Boco can find his shooting boots again.

Brush
Coleman Almeida Peers Butler
Raff Cash O' Grady Curran Doherty
Boco

Subs:
Jennings
Feeney
Noctor
Creane
Kelly

If all our players are fit it will be hard to know leave players out, i think he will go Ventre and O'Grady in the mixer. He could maybe play raff in the hole.

i would have ventre in there for cash! not sure he will play 4-5-1 though!

Personally, I'd go 4-4-1-1, push one of the wingers (Doherty or Cretaro, most likely) up to support Boco.
From what I remember, Shams' centre-backs aren't the most mobile, and a bit of pace could cause them all sorts of problems.

I'd drop Ventre and give Curran another shot but can't see Cook dropping his friend. If Feeney's fit then put him up front with Boco. As long as we don't spend the match hoofing it up to the heads of Shams defence, we'll win.

According to the Weekender today Seamie should be available so if I was putting money on it this will be the starting 11.

Brush

Coleman Almedia Peers Butler

Raf O'Grady Ventre Doherty

Boco Cash

good team except for cashie up front. Feeney might work better with Boco, or even Raff.

YOU TELL HIM SLIGOMAN!!!

can see a draw here although, Shamrock got a decnt draw last night. Itll be a tight game. Dont know if id start Curran, he had a decent game V Harps, but they have a very sluggish midfield, and his mach fitness is bound to be questioned against the Shamrock midfield. Would probably start Ventre with Conor in the middle

Curran probably hasn't done enough to start ahead of Ventre or O'Grady, although, as Eddie O'Sullivan would say, he definitely "put his hand up."

BTW, has anyone else noticed just how young our team is? Majority of the players are 22/23, and O'Grady is the oldest regular starter at 28! (Arsene would be impressed...)

Our team has always been young since the Don O'Riordan days , even when Connor was in charge I think you'd be looking at an average age of 23-24

It's a good thing in many ways really

tops off on the 1pm train:D he he.

Very hard game, not sure what the outcome will be to be honest. Important to not get beaten to maintain the gap between us and Shamrock.

Sligo Rovers manager Paul Cook has another week with an even more depleted squad as Matthew Judge faces a long lay off with a broken cheek bone and damage to his eye socket (an injury picked up in the game against Finn Harps),he has had surgery today in Derry with steel plates inserted into his cheek. Also Steve Feeney is still out with a hamstring injury and Seamus Coleman will have a late fitness test with his ankle injury

ya can blame Don O'Riordan for that. used to have him playing for u18s, u21s and senior team every week back in those days and that probably has him f***ed for good

How fit is McTiernan, could he do a job from the bench or even as suggested earlier stand beside boco and do the shooting for him.

Didn't mean to be hard on Feeney with that comment earlier, but every piece of Rovers team news is punctuated with "and Steve Feeney is out with a hamstring injury"

So, do you reckon playing too many games at a young age makes you more susceptible to injuries in your twenties (ala Michael Owen)?

AFAIK he hasnt played since last season. I dont think he was playing with Boyle Celtic either.

If the second half Rovers from Monday come out, I'd be pretty confident of a win. If the first half Rovers come out, I'd be happy with a draw.

Will be frustrating match to watch so, with lots of cards.
I guess, 7 bookings and 1 sending off, in a mild mannered game.:(

just backed us at 3.2 to 1 for this on betfair. great value imo. i think they will find it hard to break us down and i think our players will feel we owe them one after being robbed in the cup.
i would be surprised if mct is not on the bench if he is in any sort of shape.

Rovers lost 1-0 :(. Many great chances in the first half best chances of the night were Danny Ventre's low shot and Butlers free kick. good to see McTiernan play but was quiet enough in the match.

A dissapointing loss.We dominated until they scored but boco is just not a good finisher. In an ideal world he would be playing attacking midfield but obviously we have a shortage up front so he has to play there.I reckon if faz was playing tonight we would have won.The heads dropped when they scored and we started hoofing it.Peers was immense but the likes of curran and doherty weren't great imo.

I know yeah but he didn't really get stuck in enough for my liking.I suppose of we had a target man he would have gotten on the end of a few of the crosses.

Shocking crowd from Sligo,we had over 300 for the cup and 30 maybe tonight

Really dissapointed with that result, we could have won if Boco could hit the target, so many chances but if you dont score you wont win.

On a happier note it was great to see my favourite ever rovers player back in the Red & White!:), how many times have we seen him pressure the keeper like that? 1000's of times...only once have i seen him stop the keeper from kicking it away when it hit his arse:D

The Shams support looked shocking too. We deserved something from it I’m gutted with the result but we have to move on. We played some brilliant football again roll on Cork:)

First half we looked liked the only team that was going to win it. We played some neat football and with better shooting we could have been at least 2 up. Brush wasn't troubled once. Shams were very defensive.

The game opened up a bit in the second half but I never felt rovers got a grip on the game like they did in the 1st half. Cretaro or Butler never got forward as much as they would have liked. Peers certainly deserved MOTM.

With Seamie back for the Cork game, I think we can give them a really good game.

Shamrock Rovers were hopeless, thought they have gone way back. We definitely deserved something but like against Galway we cannot score. Boco (at least 2), Cash, Peers, Conor all had good chances - we are NOT going to score many with our midfield. Gary was way off the pace & contributed nothing. That said we played great football but we should be putting these chances away

I hate losing to Pat Scully, especially when we play better than them:mad: We really are missing someone to put the chances away, hopefully McT is that person(once match fit). No reason why we can't take a point off Cork at home, tightly mark Mooney and it's sorted.

well becasue Seamies a right back, id say he'll have Liam Kearney to attend to, id expect Mauro or Peers to do a job on Mooney
